Welcome to the Minko Wines web site!
Minko is a boutique, family run winery producing premium cool climate wines. Minko vineyards are nestled in the Southern Fleurieu wine region. Minko practices sustainable eco-agriculture. The Nangkita and Tookayerta Creeks flow through Minko; their wetlands and associated native vegetation are valued features of the property along with some 66 hectares of heritage listed scrub.
The Southern Fleurieu Region is located just south of MClaren Vale, borders the Adelaide Hills region and is home to a growing number of boutique wineries. The cool, maritime climate of the Southern Fleurieu ensures steady, slow, ripening periods, ideal for deveoping fruit flavours on the vine. This aspect combined with our soil profile of glacial sands over ironstone produces fresh, crisp, zingy whites and medium bodied savoury reds of complexity, depth and finesse. Our Mount Compass vineyard has good rainfall and consistently produces high caliber fruit.
Minko specializes in Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
We opened our Cellar Door and Providore (“provider of urban pantry foods”) in the main street of Willunga in time for the “Tour Down Under” in January 2003.
Minko is the name of our property at Mount Compass on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. Our property was named using a couple of letters from each of the family’s names:
Mike Inger Nick & Margo
